Renewed is built on the conviction that your inner life is yours. This policy explains, plainly, what data the app collects, what it doesn't, and who can see it.
What we collect
On your device only
Your journal entries and topic selections never leave your device. They are stored locally by the app and are not transmitted to any server — not ours, not anyone else's. If you delete the app, that data is gone.
Anonymous usage analytics
We use PostHog to understand how people use the app — which screens they visit, which features they engage with, and where they drop off. This helps us improve the experience over time.
PostHog is configured in anonymous mode. We do not send any personally identifiable information — no name, no email, no journal content. What PostHog sees is: event names (e.g. "opened feed"), device type, operating system version, app version, and an anonymous session identifier that resets periodically.
PostHog's own privacy policy is available at posthog.com/privacy.
Website analytics
This website (not the app) uses Google Analytics to measure page visits — which pages are read, roughly where visitors come from, and what kind of device they use. Google Signals and advertising features are disabled. We do not use this data for advertising and we do not sell it.
Google's privacy policy is available at policies.google.com/privacy.
Subscription information
If you subscribe to Renewed's patron tier, we use Superwall to manage your subscription status and entitlements. Superwall receives your purchase history and subscription state from Apple — it never handles your payment information directly. Apple processes all payments under their own privacy policy.
Superwall associates your subscription with an anonymous identifier generated by the app. We do not link this to your name or email unless you explicitly contact us for support.
Superwall's privacy policy is available at superwall.com/privacy.
What we don't collect
- Your name or email address
- Your journal entries or written reflections
- Your location
- Your contacts or any data from other apps
- Any health or biometric data
We have no account system. There is nothing to sign up for. We do not know who you are.
How your data is used
Anonymous analytics are used solely to improve the app — to understand which features are working and which aren't. We do not sell this data. We do not use it for advertising. We do not share it with third parties beyond PostHog, Google Analytics, and Superwall for the purposes described above.
Data retention
On-device data persists until you delete the app or clear its data in your device settings. Anonymous analytics events are retained by PostHog according to their own retention policy. Subscription records in Superwall are retained as required to manage your entitlements.
Children's privacy
Renewed is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child has used the app and you have concerns, please contact us.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. Significant changes — such as beginning to collect new categories of data — will be noted in the app's release notes.
